updates..updates..:D
sheesh..i've been away for ages.. my poor blog..:P
sometime back..i told wy pun that it would be great to get a chance to travel while working...u know..company sends u overseas or another state to work or somethin.well..i tot it would be fun to get out this everyday office environment/traffic jams/downstairs mamak once in a while and work at a different place.
but..wy pun then replied
"ash..it may sound fun...but wait till it happens..u will find it tiring"
.......
i finally got a few chances to travel out for work.i got the chance to visit Sabah, Sarawak and lately Brunei and i managed to come up with a conclusion that everything would be fun and exciting on the first 2 or 3 days of the trip...but anything more than that..its torture..
because u see..i failed to realize that I was going there to W.....O.....R.....K...
the first mention of a trip...i get all excited and i get the feeling as if im going for a vacation..
how STUPID of me..only when the drama begins..i begin to realize how uncomfortable and troublesome it is.
the reason i say so is becoz..when im assigned for tasks like this..firstly, im travelling alone and i'm not heading for 1 destination but MULTIPLE destinations.my last trip to Sabah and Sarawak...this was my schedule :
KL -> Sibu -> Kuching -> Miri -> Kota Kinabalu -> Kuching -> KL
and i need to cover all these places in like 5 DAYS!
The only flight that is booked by my company is the KL to Sibu flight (my first flight). The rest i have to arrange myself as and when i complete my task at each stop. Its like amazing race u know..once u finish your task..u need to rush n findout when is the next available flight to the next destination...and its so troublesome to find a AirAsia or MAS counter around town and even if i manage to find one..they will tell me its too late to book a flight now and i need to go straight to the airport to purchase the ticket...
arghhh...crap....
and not forgetting..i hav to drag my luggage all along these places...becoz i cant ask anyone to keep it for me.
and in Sarawak...getting a taxi is not easy..so remember whenever u get a taxi...TAKE DOWN THEIR NUMBER.
Sometimes i will be in 3 different places in ONE day.For example:
Morning : Fly from Sibu to Kuching
Evening : Fly from Kuching to Miri
whenever i hav this kinda schedule i always laugh to myself..i feel like a lunatic.dragging my bags like an idiot up and down unknown places. And to make things worst, sometimes the 2nd flight for the day (in this case Miri) will be at 9pm..and i will complete my tasks in Kuching by 2 or 3 pm...and so from 3 pm i will be SITTING in the airport waiting for the damn flight.
and knowing Air Asia...the flights will even get DELAYEDD....-___-
my god..the amount of hours i spent sitting in the airports..sometimes it reaches up to 8 hours!!! i cant sleep coz i hav to look after my bags..i cant read peacefully coz thats the time some unknown creature(kids) will decide to run around my area and make one hell of a havoc(kicking my chair..or staring right into my eyes as if i look like a retarded clown)..
argh..gosh..mental torture..tis is when i start sms-ing someone or stare back at the kid..haha.
wy pun even wrote a poem for me while i was waiting in the Kuching airport..
Ash the wanderer...
The non stop traveller...
Sitting at the airport...
Watching the rain drop...
u may ask me.."hey ash..u hav so much spare time..why not go jalan jalan abit..explore the places n all?"
well u see, in places where i dont stay overnight..i have to drag my luggage & notebook along.so its seriously troublesome n tiring to walk around with these stuffs becoz its heavy..i cant leave it behind also. so to avoid all these troubles..i'd rather just get to the airport and sit there. Bn Kota Kinabalu i managed to make frens wit one of the taxi driver..so he kept my bag for me while i went shopping.
Hotels in Sarawak are really good..u can get a really good room for 170 or 180 per night.Usually in places where i stay overnight, I will usually go jalan jalan around town to check out the place. So im not complaining about these trips..at least i get to see Sabah n Sarawak for free kan.
Overall Sarawak was nice...a quiet and simple place. Kuching is quite developed..with flyovers and highways but its very quiet, even on a Sunday u dont see much activities around town. But the people there are very humble and polite. They really make u feel comfortable while u are there..:)
I enjoyed Kota Kinabalu more. Its more like KL, quite happening. The view before the plane landed was simply amazing. U can see the blue/green sea..with clear waters and all the mountains around the sea area...wow..it was really excellent.I was there on a Saturday and spent time in the mall before the next flight and the mall was packed with teenagers. Quite lively...u can find all the kind of shops u see in 1Utama there.
i shall try to post some pics on my last 2 trips to Sarawak & Sabah.then i shall write another post on my Brunei Trip.
i guess i'll stop here...a long story from the missing ash..;)
**i found some grammatical errors..so i adjusted some minor details on the post.
