Me : "haha..wohooo.."

SM 1 : "i'm just gonna tell him im too old for all these"

just then..another senior manager came in and she heard our conversation and she said..

SM 2 : "ceh..if i were u..i will say..

unique New Year celebration...

i had the most unique and memorable new year celebration this year as for the first time in my life i did the countdown to new year in a hospital ward..:D

the ending of 2006 and the begining of 2007 was kinda hectic for me and my family.we were travelling back and forth to the hospital and home because my sister was admitted for dengue and the best part was that all of us were on AL(Annual Leave) since the day my sister was admmited..haha..
well we didnt actually take AL to accompany my sis but we took leave becoz we were supposed to be in Kedah for a holiday. Unfortunately one day before our departure(one day after X'mas), my sister had high fever and we decided to get her checked in the hospital n the doctor suspected it could be dengue as my sister's fever has been coming on and off since Sunday and usually tats the first sign for dengue.
but the problem with dengue is tat you wont be able to detect/confirm it on the first few days. Your fever will be coming on and off and your blood test result will still not show any signs of dengue. But the main thing to take into consideration here is your blood platlet count which will be reducing slowly.

until the 3rd day all of us were still hoping that her fever would subside and we could still make it for our Kedah trip..hehe..but unfortunately we were dissapointed with the blood test report on the 3rd day(tat was on Thursday)..she tested positive for dengue and her blood platlet count started to go down drastically.

the doctor asked her to continue her "holiday" at the hospital until the platlet count starts to increase..and so we waited...
i even cancelled my AL and went back to work on friday.
the blood test is only done once a day which is in the morning and the we would know the result by 10am..so if the platlet count is still going down..it only means one thing...
my sister has to stay another day until the next blood test is done.
:(

so we waited..patiently..every morning we would keep our fingers crossed for a good news..but no..
all we got to know was tat her blood platlet count was getting lesser..even the doc started to make us worried by saying tat if the count goes lower than 30 my sister might have to go for a blood transfusion.
the idea of using someone else's blood was somethin my sister wasnt happy of.
on the morning of new year's eve..we got a shocking news tat her blood count has dropped till 50.u see the problem with dengue is tat, once the count starts dropping..it will continue to drop drastically..but once the count starts increasing, then its good news..becoz when it increases, it really shoots up very fast and it will not go down again(in most cases).
so we started hoping that on the next day..her count will shoot up instead of going even lower.

so on new year's eve, me,my dad and mom decided to stay with my sis till midnight and do the countdown with her.we felt sorry for her to be lying alone in the ward when everyone outside was celebrating..and since it was my mom's birthday i brought my mom's present to the hospital.
so at sharp 12am..we switched off the room's lights and all four of us stood at the room's window and watched the fireworks..since my sister was on the 5th floor we could watch the fireworks clearly.
haha..it was a different feeling actually..all of our tiredness and frustration left us and we happily watched the fireworks display which lasted for almost 15 minutes..we could see the fireworks from different locations and we started saying.."hey..i think tat one is from shah alam..hey..tis one must be from the padang near klang"..and the guessing went on and on..haha..it was fun nevertheless.
we then wished my mom happy birthday and she opened her present.
after a while..we left my sis and returned home around 1am.

the next morning(new year's day)..we all went to the hospital as usual..it was like our daily routine for the past 7 days already.my mom was saying that the best present should could ask for now would be the news tat my sister's blood platlet count is going up..haha..and FINALLY the good news came..the nurse told us tat my sister's count has increased..and the reading now shows 76..:)

hahha..all of us felt very happy..it was finally a good start for the year for us..after the series of dissapointing events.
my sister finally got discharged...:D

so tat was my new year's celebration..although we didnt really do anything exciting or go out to celebrate..but tat small little celebration we had in the hospital ward was something i will never forget for it has been the most unique and best new year's celebration i ever had..;)

oh BTW..i was away in Sarawak begining of this month..i wanted so much to blog abt it but didnt get the chance to do it..but now even before i can blog about it..im going there again!
haha..well i will leaving for Sarawak again tmr..im going alone again..and tis time i'll be also going to Kota Kinabalu,Sabah..should be back by Sunday tis week.

wishing all of u guys out there a happy and healthy year ahead...may all your dreams and whishes come true..:)

hope to see u guys soon..;)
